FEBRUARY'S BIRTHSTONE

   AMETHYST

The Basics
Regal and mesmerizing, amethyst has a beautiful purple color. Part of the quartz family, the signature purple of an amethyst can range from pale to saturated.

The ancient Greeks believed amethyst protected against intoxication and poison, a belief that was adapted by other cultures as well. Similarly, the Egyptians believed the stone could provide protection against toxic, negative thoughts and feelings.

Amethyst can be cleaned with warm soapy water, and ultrasonic cleaners are usually safe. Steam cleaning is not recommended.

Meaning
Due to its purple color, amethyst often has associations with royalty. As its history alludes, this stone symbolizes an overall protection of wellness and of a sober mind. Additionally, amethyst is considered a symbol of peace and serenity.
