De-Clutter Your Jewelry With These Tips

Declutter Your Jewelry with These Tips

Just like cleaning out old clothes, shoes, or housewares, it's important to go through your jewelry periodically. Not sure how to get started? Our tips below can help you get organized.

1. First, make sure you have a jewelry box or other system that will keep your jewelry safe, organized and easy to access. If you have a lot of jewelry, you can purchase a larger box called a jewelry armoire. Other storage systems include jewelry storage mirrors, drawer organizers, and necklace trees.

2. Go through all of your jewelry. During this time, it may be helpful to make a list of all the jewelry you own and to take a picture of each piece. This can be vital information in the event of loss due to fire, flood, natural disasters or theft. You may wish to check with your insurance agent to make sure your jewelry is covered under your homeowner's or renter's insurance.

3. Check your jewelry for wear and tear. This includes clasps and fasteners on bracelets and necklaces, backs and posts on earrings, and kinks or broken links on chains. Set aside any jewelry that is in need of repair. You can bring it to Jared, where our team of experts can help restore your jewelry.

4. As for the jewelry you no longer wear, you may wish to sell pieces that have value. If you have sentimental or heirloom pieces you don't use, you can bring them to Jared to see if the gemstones or settings can be used to create something new.

5. Look through your collection and see if there are any missing pieces. If you need a new necklace, bracelet or pair of earrings to complete a look, now is the time to pick one up.

Remember, you can have your fine jewelry cleaned and inspected, free of charge, at any Jared the Galleria of Jewelry location.
